Bergen County, New Jersey Workers' Compensation Lawyer
Every employee who has been seriously injured on the job is entitled to fair and just compensation for their lost wages and medical bills through workers' comp.
I am attorney John L. Schettino, and I handle workers' compensation claims and injury disputes for injured workers and municipal employers throughout New Jersey. I can help you find a resolution that protects your rights. In 2005, I was recognized by New Jersey Monthly as a New Jersey Super Lawyer.
A Different Perspective on Your Legal Concerns

I help injured workers who are involved with every step of the process. If your employer has disputed your injury from the beginning, I can help you get medical and temporary disability benefits.
If you believe that you are entitled to a permanency award, but you have not received it yet or your petition has been denied, I can help you take action and make sure you get the compensation you deserve.
At your side every step of the way, I will make sure your rights are protected throughout the workers' compensation process:
- The employee is required to notify their employer that they have been injured.
- The employer is obligated to file a claim with the workers' comp insurer on behalf of the employee.
- Assuming the claim is approved, the employee is entitled to medical and appropriate temporary disability benefits.
- If the employee has a permanent injury of some kind, the employee is entitled to a permanency award, based on the extent and permanency of the injury, after the treatment is concluded.
- If the employee does not receive an award, or if the award is inadequate, they can file a petition before the New Jersey Workers' Compensation Board.
When filing for workers' compensation, problems can occur at any point, and when they do, you want someone who understands your situation and the law protecting your rights.
In some cases, an employer fails to file a claim properly or register for workers' compensation insurance. If that is the case, your employer may fight your claim, but you have the right to fight back.
While we protect the rights of all employees who have suffered a serious injury on the job, we also handle workers' compensation defense for municipal employers. Protecting the rights of both plaintiffs and defendants, we provide a unique perspective to your clients, helping them fully understand their options.
